Two-dimensional boundary-layer equations

For steady incompressible flow with imposed outer pressure gradient,

u_{x} + v_{y} = 0, u u_{x} + v u_{y} = - \frac{1}{ρ} p_{x} + ν u_{yy} .

The normal momentum equation makes pressure approximately uniform across the layer.
