Limit superior ( $lim sup$ )

The limit superior of a real sequence

(a_{n})

is

lim sup_{n \to \infty} a_{n} = lim_{n \to \infty} sup_{k \geq n} a_{k} .

It is the largest subsequential limit when the sequence is bounded.
