Induced map on homology ($f_{\ast }$)

A chain map sends cycles to cycles and boundaries to boundaries, and therefore induces $f_{\ast }:H_i(C)\to H_i(C^{\prime })$ by $[x]\mapsto [f_i(x)]$.
