Commuting time-dependent two-state Hamiltonian

If a time-dependent perturbation remains diagonal in a fixed eigenbasis, Hamiltonians at different times commute. Each component therefore acquires the exact phase $\exp [-i\int E_{\pm }(t)dt/\hslash ]$, with no time ordering required.
